Well is a smart home water conservation and behavioral change system that teaches people how to use their household water more efficiently.
Through creative hardware engineering and intricate industrial design, the system collects and reports actionable data that informs users about their home water consumption habits – resulting in lasting behavioral changes.
The Well system consists of a beautifully designed and creatively engineered showerhead, discrete water monitoring sensors, and an AI-infused smartphone app. With Well, people can view their water consumption patterns, understand how to reduce that consumption, and then act on their newfound insights with machine learning software.
Using Mindtribe’s IoT hardware engineering experience and Matter’s ID and UX expertise, the teams designed and prototyped an integrated system in six months. Mindtribe created prototypes, ran feasibility studies, and prepared the system for manufacturing. The effort required deep expertise in IoT hardware, UX, industrial design, and manufacturability. It includes the creation of curved magnetic surfaces, super-thin waterproof walls, adjustable electronics, and advanced LED lightpiping.
The Well concept has attracted the attention of venture investors and Fortune 500 companies for investment and further development — an incredible outcome for what started as an internal learning and collaborative project between Mindtribe and Matter.
